Father's Day Adventure

"My husband and I have been exploring the outdoors together for 20 years. Our little family of (now) 4 has traveled all over the Southwest looking for adventures with an amazing view. Though we have primarily been tent campers, we decided that it was time to look into something different. Many of our friends are out there in RV’s, but we knew that an RV wouldn’t get us to all the places we wanted to go. 

I am so thankful that we found @XGRiDCampers. We were able to rent the Boreas XT off road trailer for Father’s Day weekend 2020. We had privacy and function while traveling the backroads around Kanab, UT. Our first stop was a primitive campground near Coral Pink Sand Dunes. The trailer was easy to use and easy to hitch back up. It was surprisingly agile and handled every dirt/sand/rocky road that we took, like when we decided to try and find Hidden Lake at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary or when we took Johnson Canyon Road in our attempt to find Bryce Canyon (the road we wanted to take was ultimately closed and we detoured to Duck Creek). 

We ditched the ice and filled up the Dometic fridge which kept our food cold. Ice can be difficult to find in very remote places (like that time in Great Basin National Park or last week in the Ruby Mountains…) Not a fun experience in this desert heat. We opened the easy to assemble awning and had lunch in the shade. No need for sunscreen! We slept (2 adults the first night, 2 kids the second night) comfortably on the foam mattress inside the trailer and enjoyed the large, bug free vestibule. Our queen sized air mattress fit great and gave us room to move around. Jon especially liked that he could stand up easily (he’s 6 foot tall) to change. The solar powered battery kept everything functioning and kept all of our devices charged. We would probably add a roof top tent to give us extra sleeping room, but otherwise it fit our needs perfectly. 

The Boreas XT gave us just enough luxury to balance the rugged and looked really good behind the truck. It was so much fun that we already have our next trip booked!"
